LGBT Travel Couples You Absolutely Have to Follow

Even though we are late in June, happy Pride Month everyone! 🏳️‍🌈

This year is very special for us. It’s the first year that we celebrate Pride Month with our community of readers and followers. During this period of activity we received lots of love from other queers, allies and fellow travelers. It really made us feel happy and proud of who we are and what we do!

To celebrate our “debut” – as well as Pride Month itself – we would like to praise some LGBT travel couples who have been a great inspiration to us.

Many of these guys were dear to our hearts even before we became Travelsfaction, while others we met along the way. But all of them are noteworthy as they are doing great at showing the world their daily life as queer travelers. Thanks to them we’ve understood that we are not alone, that making a dream come true is not impossible and that a pinch of madness in life never hurts ✨

And now let’s get to the point. Here are our favorite LGBTQ+ travel couples. We know you will love them as much as we do 🌈❤️

Once Upon A Journey – Maartje and Roxanne

“Hi beautiful people! First of all, happy Pride month! A month of celebration, a month of protest, a month of LOVE. Even though we’re out and proud year round, we think this month is really powerful to look at how far we’ve come AND what still needs to be done.

Who are we? We are Roxanne (on the left, she/hers, lesbian) and Maartje (on the right, she/hers, bi/queer), a travel couple from the Netherlands. In 2017 we started to travel the world fully nomadically for three years. We sold everything we had and left the Netherlands to explore this beautiful world. On the road we started Once Upon a Journey.

We initially never wanted to share our stories as a lesbian travel couple, but we learned many people wanted to see us and hear our stories. We then realized how important visibility is and how important to share our stories traveling around the world!

Together, we have visited over 45 countries all over the world. We don’t shy away from countries that aren’t LGBT friendly, but we also celebrate places that are. We love meeting the local LGBTQ+ community and hear all about their experiences and favorite places.

We are based in the Netherlands again since 2020, but we are currently exploring the beauty of Greece!

Happy Pride everybody. We hope the world gets kinder, becomes safer, so we can ALL celebrate (and not fight for) our pride, our equality, our happily ever after. A world in which we will all be loved and accepted the way we are.”

Nomadic Boys – Stefan and Sebastien

Stefan and Sebastian are a gay couple and Nomadic Boys is their gay travel blog. Nomadic Boys’ mission is to inspire gay travelers and show them that they can see countless places in the world without sacrificing personal safety and gay fun!

Stefan and Sebastian provide a first-hand account of the places they visited as a gay couple with an insight into the local gay life. It can be useful for anyone who wants to plan a fun and safe trip.

They told us that they believe everyone should be able to travel wherever they want regardless of their sexual orientation and we couldn’t agree more with them!

@nomadicboys

The Globetrotter Guys – Sion and Ben

“Hi everyone, we are Sion and Ben a.k.a. The Globetrotter Guys. In 2018 we left the UK on a one-way ticket to travel the world whilst at the same time had it very much at the forefront of our mind that travelling the world as a gay couple definitely would have its challenges.

As a result we decided to share our stories, experiences and tips as a gay couple travelling as well as stories from other LGBTQ people from around the world to educate inspire and help others travel more freely.”

@theglobetrotterguys

27 Travels – Gabi and Shanna

Gabi and Shanna are a lesbian travel couple living in Brooklyn. After realizing they were in love with travel they opened their account in 2016 with the purpose of documenting their journeys. When they realized that internet had few informations for LGBT travelers they decided they wanted to help change that.

Their purpose is to encourage people to explore the world and become more and more open minded by experiencing different cultures from all over. Wondering why the name 27travels? Because the 27th is the day of their anniversary and a very special number for them!

@27travels

Deer is Travelling – Aon and Lan

“Hi there! We are Aon and Lan, an intergaycial couple from Thailand and Russia based in Thailand!

We matched on Tinder but we were so caught up with our lives that we met for the first time a few months later. When this happened, we immediately clicked and that’s how our story begin! We didn’t plan to stay in Bangkok as Aon wanted to move to Canada to study and Lan, that had been in Bangkok for a year to Learn Muay Thai, just wanted to travel more. But look at us now!

We started our blog because we noticed that there were almost no LGBTQ+ friendly resources about Thailand and no blogs about must-see hidden gems in Thailand. Deer is Travelling is our way to reveal how is it to be a gay couple in Thailand but also to show the side of Thailand that most tourists can’t see.

We actually won the “The Blogger Thailand” award in 2019 established by the TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) and now we are actively working with many popular hotel chains across the travel industry.”

Lez See the World – Steph and Katie

Steph and Katie Burlton (she/her) are a married lesbian couple who have been together for more than ten years. They are full-time travellers and creative entrepreneurs from Vancouver, Canada, and they’ve been sharing their life and love online since 2016. This couple started the business “Lez See the World” because of the lack of representation of lesbian women in online media. They aim to be visible as a proud same-sex couple to show people that gay women can travel, run a business, own property, and thrive! They create content on Instagram, YouTube, and their own travel and lifestyle blog.

Steph and Katie have built a dedicated community online of queer women and allies. They’ve been featured in Popsugar, Visit Gay USA, and Go Mag, and have partnered with notable brands like Toyota, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Lyft. They were also awarded Runner Up Best Insta-Traveler in 2018 by Gay Cities. These girls are experts in creative entrepreneurship, photography, videography, modelling, long-term travel, social media strategy, and digital content creation. They love encouraging other entrepreneurs and recently added a consulting division to “Lez See the World” to help others build and grow their businesses!

Their travels have taken them all around the globe, and Steph and Katie love sharing queer friendly travel destinations with their audience. Together they’ve visited 32 countries, 41 American states, and 9 Canadian provinces, and they often bring along their adventure pup Theo. Steph and Katie have been fully location independent for the past 5 years and are passionate about encouraging others to get out and see the world!

On Airplane Mode – Kirstie and Christine

“We are Kirstie and Christine, an LGBT Travel Couple and winners of the GayTravel Awards 2020. We are using our platform and photography to inspire others to follow their passion while celebrating who they are and who they love!

There are 70 countries in the world that still criminalise same sex relations, and even more countries to this day victimize the LGBTQ+ community. We hope to bring awareness and acceptance to our community worldwide by sharing our story with fellow travellers. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Pride month this year!”

The Globbers – Luca and Alessandro

Luca and Alessandro are two Italian guys, partners in adventure and life. They define themself as an energetic couple characterized by a strong complicity which allows them to travel together for long periods of time.

The Globbers was born in 2015 somewhat as a game but over the time it has evolved into a working project. Since 2016 Luca and Alessandro are full-time travelers and today they devote themself to the storytelling of their journeys around the world.

They say: “Our main business card is our Instagram profile where we collect the most beautiful photographs from around the world. On the other hand, on our blog we post useful information for travelers and tell them our experiences firsthand.”

@the_globbers

Breaking the Distance – Tash and Marthe

Tash (English) and Marthe (Dutch) are a lesbian couple who’ve been in a long distance relationship for quite some time. They both love ocean and traveling so they met whilst surfing in Bali. After that, they spent 4 weeks together – enough time to fall in love with each other.

Their project’s name is Breaking the Distance as it was initially about their journey, from being apart to moving together. Marthe moved from Amsterdam to London in December 2019 and that’s how they officially “broke the distance”. Now they keep sharing their stories about visiting countries, exploring cultures, and facing up a long distance relationship.

They also are vegan and have a strong passion for food so if you need to find a good vegan restaurant to eat, their help will be essential!

@_breakingthedistance

Burrito and Tortilla – Chris and Alex

“We are Chris and Alex, a queer travel couple based out of New Jersey! Our goal is to live a life that is rich in adventures, memories, and experiences.

You will always find us staying in unique accommodations, setting off on a road trip, exploring natural wonders, eating and drinking our way through a place, and checking things off our bucket list. We encourage others to experience different places, peoples, and cultures because we believe firsthand experience is the key to dismantling prejudice.

We visibly share what it’s like to travel as a queer couple to highlight the struggles we face at times and precautions we have to take that the average person doesn’t have to consider. Our hope is to help other LGBTQIA+ individuals get the most out of their travels and to venture safely based on our knowledge! Travel is our greatest shared passion so when we aren’t working we are seeing more of this beautiful world and we hope to inspire you to as well. Follow us on our journey because we’ll know before you go!”

@itschrisandalex

World Mappers – Marco and Simone

Marco and Simone are two guys from Italy known as World Mappers. They share the passion for travel and pursue the goal of leaving their mark all over the world. At the base of their project there are three values: travel, love and friendship.

From a random photo they took during their first trip together as a couple, they decided to launch a challenge and take a face to face picture in every place they visit. And they are doing it great!

But World Mappers is not just that. It is also a blog where they collect practical guides to let their followers travel with them.

If you want to see their #Face2face photos just go and check their account!

It’s Va Bene – Danielle and Anna

Danielle and Anna are two incredibly nice and spontaneous girls. One of the two is an Italian airplane pilot while the other is an American digital marketer.

Their project is called “Itsvabene”. It’s a nice way to combine English and Italian, which is basically what they do every day in their Instagram account.

They currently live in Miami but are often around the world and we love to follow them. Now we do it more than ever since the Itsvabene family has expanded with the arrival of Ponza, their cute little dog.
